Pregnant & Can't Work

When I first move to Atlanta in June 2005. I was pregnant and had no job. I was still under the military’s healthcare. I was being medically discharged from the military b/c of my Allergies and Asthma condition. I couldn’t get deployed with having Asthma and I couldn’t do a lot of training activities outside b/c of my allergies.

So, I came to ATL got an 1 bdrm apartment. I had savings and a friend sent me $1k, to make sure I was okay until something came thru, etc. I applied to jobs, went on interviews but being that I was pregnant. I wasn’t sure if I could work b/c of a miscarriage in 2003. Which they felt was in result to stress. I did get offered a job but the schedule they were requiring. I turned it down b/c I didn’t want to disappoint them with having to go to the doctor all the time. My belly was small – so they couldn’t tell, I was pregnant. The doctor - did ended up telling me, that if I was working that I needed to stop.

So, I decided to just go back to school. Which allowed me to collect the GI Bill. Then, the military determined they were going to pay me half of my active duty salary. While, they figured out what they were going to do with me AND I was able to collect unemployment during this time, as well. So, once all those came in I received over $3k a month. That money paid all my bills and allowed me to get everything I would need for my coming baby. I didn’t have a baby shower…BUT thankfully, God placed people in my life...to bless me! I ran into an old roommate from when I was stationed in S. Korea in the store. She had a son…so she gave me all of his clothing that he had outgrown AND one of my friend’s sister “Woman’s Group” at her church decided to send me some clothing, burp cloths, bibs, etc.

I found a nice crib on clearance for $49 at Walmart – it looked like it cost a good bit of money. In fact, when I got it - the cashier thought it rung up wrong. She was like well – that’s what it scans. So, I guess that’s the price. I got his stroller/carseat and swing set all on sale.

While, I couldn’t work God made sure all my needs were met AND I didn’t have to worry. If he can do all of that for me! I know He will make a way for you!

Philippians 4:19: God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus.
